Dr. Ann Fischer is a member of both the Psychology Department faculty and the Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies program faculty at Southern Illinois University. Her laboratory and research programs focus primarily on diversity issues such as gender, sexuality, and culture as related to social identity, power, prejudice, internalization of societal norms, and mental health.
In addition to maintaining an independent research program, Dr. Fischer also contributes to the scientific community through editorial service to numerous research and professional journals (e.g., Psychological Science, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Cultural Diversity & Ethnic Minority Psychology, Psychology of Women Quarterly, Psychology of Men and Masculinity, Journal of Counseling Psychology, The Counseling Psychologist). She has received a number of honors and awards (e.g., Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Oliva Espin Social Justice Award, Florence Denmark Mentoring Award).
